Toronto-based musician Shannon Graham has played many parts throughout her life: classical violist, jazz saxophonist, experimental composer, pop singer, and chamber-jazz concert producer. Throughout her career she aims to continue blurring the lines between musical genres and what is considered art and entertainment. She believes that good music can connect people by provoking empathy, insight, and catharsis.
Shannon released two records in 2017: her sophomore solo record “Modus Tollens” (new compositions for saxophone and piano) and “Give Me That Beat” with Toronto’s most fierce Latin-Soul band “The Achromatics”. She also runs Dialectica, an all-female saxophone quartet who will be releasing their first record in April 2018. Shannon is the Managing Artistic Director of Spectrum Music (a composers collective dedicated to presenting the work of Toronto’s chamber-jazz community) and a performer with JV Music (entertainment company).
